Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (LVR®) is a procedure used for women who want to optimize the amount of pleasure they experience during sex. The laser technology involved in the procedure is used to treat stress urinary incontinence. Among the many benefits of laser surgeries over traditional surgeries is that less blood is lost, and healing time is minimized.

LVR treatment specifically targets vaginal muscle and tissue to enhance strength and tone. Conditions such as vaginal relaxation result in a weakening of these muscles which, over time, can lead to incontinence as well as loss of sexual gratification.

Who Should Consider LVR?

Most women who seek LVR treatment have had children and have begun to show signs of vaginal relaxation. Other women, however, experience a similar weakening of vaginal muscles for other reasons. Both obesity and inherited weakness of the supporting tissues can cause vaginal relaxation, as can chronic coughs.

Vaginal relaxation is a condition characterized by weakness of the tissues and muscles of the vagina. For those who have this condition, the internal and external diameters of the vagina increase, the muscles of the perenium weaken, and sexual satisfaction may be difficult to achieve.

Your LVR Procedure

Your laser vaginal rejuvenation will take approximately one hour and will be performed as an outpatient procedure. Either local or general anesthesia may be used depending on your needs. During surgery the laser will be applied in order to decrease the internal and external diameters of the vagina, and to increase the strength of the perineal body.

What to Expect After LVR

Following surgery, you will need to take approximately one week off from work and your usual activities in order to allow the area to heal. Sex can be resumed after approximately six weeks. With laser surgery, most patients only experience a moderate amount of post-operative pain. Your surgeon can provide specific information about what to expect after laser veginal rejuvenation.
