Patients who have suffered shoulder, knee or other sports related injuries may find relief through orthopedic treatments. While not all injuries and conditions are the same or can be treated in the same manner, in some cases, certain orthopedic treatments may be applied to varying cases.
One of the common first avenues for correction are braces and supports, many of which are commercially available. These can provide support for the muscles, joints and bones. Similarly, casts may be applied in the case of broken bones, which support the body's structure.
Physical therapy and rehabilitation are also commonly employed as they teach the patient how to work with the injury after it has healed and to learn how to restore normal function.
Medications and injections may also be administered to bring relief to the patient and to support healing of the injury.
Often as a last resort, patients must turn to surgery to repair or correct the injury. In this case, treatment will vary greatly based on your condition and you must consult with Dr. Haiavy to learn about an appropriate plan of action.
